Martin grew up in a community where GBV was common. According to him, many men are raised without a proper understanding of what GBV is. Due to the lack of education around the issue, these men tend to react violently rather than talking through their problems with their partners in order to find solutions. Over the years, Martin has taught himself to communicate as a way of avoiding unnecessary tension and arguments.
He lives by his motto: “If you know you are wrong, it’s best to apologise immediately.” He is adamant that violence and abuse is not a solution to any problem.
